Xero Phase 2

Just to add a really basic newbie question - if the Tide integration with Xero doesn’t (yet!) add transactions as unreconciled for me to then reconcile with my bills/invoices… Then what is the advantage of the integration? That I can see a bank balance and that it matches my Xero one?

I’m not trying to sound sarcastic, I’m genuinely interested in what the advantages are - at the moment I have to add payments manually as before the integration AND remove all the Xero lines from my bank statement in Xero, meaning I don’t see any real integration apart from the total balance.

Hi @Charlie, thanks for getting in touch with us. Currently, our integration with Xero automatically syncs Tide transactions (as well as categories and attachments). This removes the often cumbersome process of manually reconciling transactions - something many of our Xero users no longer have to do. In addition to this, the integration maps categories where a clear mapping exists between Tide and Xero category.

Our member community do see benefit in this integration. However, some have vocalised concerns and because our integration is in its early stages, we really appreciate feedback as this helps us improve. If you do feel this doesn’t work for you, I’d be keen to hear more from you. So do let me know

Hello Viktoria, thanks for the reply!

My feedback would be that the syncing of Tide transactions into Xero loses much of its use if I then have to remove them as I have to do that to reconcile with my invoices or bills (from the advice in the material on this, I have to remove the Tide transactions or else I either have unpaid bills/invoices or double-up on transactions).

I know you are working on the next-level APi to make this all work more smoothly, but right now my very simple sole-trader setup with only a few transactions takes much longer than it did before the integration as I’m removing Tide payments then adding manual payments (which I was doing before the integration).

So… I guess my long-winded point is that you say the integration “removes the often cumbersome process of manually reconciling transactions”, but I still have to do just that. Looking forward to seeing the next phase go live!
