Travelling for work? Here are some top tips for a stress-free journey.

Can I use my card abroad?
Absolutely - you should be able to use your card for chip and pin most places you visit.

However, you won’t currently be able to make payments online or using the magstripe on your card in the countries listed below:

  • Brazil (BRA)
  • India (IND)
  • Indonesia (IDN)
  • Mexico(MEX)
  • Moldova (MDA)
  • Myanmar (MMR)
  • Philippines (PHL)
  • Romania (ROU)
  • Turkey (TUR)
  • Thailand (THA)
  • United Arab Emirates (UAE)
  • Vietnam (VNM)

You won’t be able to use your card in:

  • Afghanistan (AFG)
  • Central African Republic (CAF)
  • Iran (IRN)
  • Iraq (IRQ)
  • Kuwait (KWT)
  • Libya (LBY)
  • Pakistan (PAK)
  • Saudi Arabia (SAU)

If you need to transact in these countries, get in touch in the app and ask our Member Support team.

Should I carry another card?
Your card will work abroad, but we always recommend taking a backup card so you have options while you’re travelling.

Will I be charged for using my card abroad?
You always get the Mastercard wholesale rate which you can check here. Standard account charges for transfers (20p) and ATM withdrawals (£1) will still apply.

Safety & Security
We have fraud monitoring systems in place in the UK and internationally for our members’ protection. These systems may sometimes block certain payments if they look fraudulent, including transactions abroad. If you’re having trouble with a transaction or a payment is wrongly declined, please get in touch with our Help team via our in-app chat.
