Anyone had any luck elsewhere?

Any leads? Successes? Luck?
I am so deflated after this fiasco…

Hi @Farrinc

Sadly not. Most banks have closed doors to new business, the few that have not, have ginormous waiting lists.

We would have tried to join the queue earlier, however Tide strung us along for quite a while. False tracker information, an email in Mid June saying that they had lent £50m and that “there is more to come”.

The real crying shame here, is that if Tide did not exist, perhaps tens of thousands of people would have BBL access as they would have an account with a real bank.

As it stands they helped around 1,200 members and cheesed off tens of thousands more.

Good luck.

@Farrinc

Had a thought this evening that things, might, possibly, start going well, soon, going to hang onto that.

Yes, It’s been diabolical.

up S*** creek, paddle broke, started paddling with my arm, piranha bit me hand off, spikey fish just popped the inflation, still got 2 feet, can see the beach in the distance, Might make it, better kick hard enough that the sharks all F off.

2 months to go, dunno what the odds are of us securing bbl’s tbf very littles changed since the over paid xxxxxxx’s have been on their jollies, brexit to come, hooraa, at least we can rest easy knowing the UK will become a bigger tax haven for the Uber wealthy & the poor sod who’s been chased out of his country from us fighting for oil won’t be allowed in… for queen and country!

Could be worse eh!!

No luck this end!

mind you I don’t really need it I’m on a fat salary and pension package being the ceo of Tide and all.

Warmest Regards

Oli.

Let’s hope people get sorted.

personally and this might go against the grain, the reaction to Covid was & is so overplayed… Cornwall based, its never been so busy, no social distancing, small fishing towns cramming people in, beaches, shops, restaurants, as per, even busier, tbh people down here think it’s a con, living completely normal lives.

As the saying goes.

“Nothing in politics happens by accident, if it happens, it was meant that way.”

(Although debatable if this is still the case with the current no foresight idiots in charge… let’s hope they make yet another U turn)

Appreciate people have died but, isn’t that life ??

I should shut up!

P.s. if we come out of it all with greater socialism then no harm done in my eyes, even tho it’s been a rough ride… remains to be seen if that will come about, not looking good with this lot… note the anti socialists with their hands out to the government begging bowl when they needed it, but wouldn’t help the homeless when down on their luck ? should all have a word with themselves, the level of hypocrisy is insane, doubt they’ve considered it tho… “Homeless, Get a job” yeah ok mate, is that before or after the brexit drunk pandemic ?

:crossed_fingers: for us, safe and happy is all ALL people want when push comes to shove!!

Last b***s*** from me until September.

Note the “tax payers face huge bill” daily mail and taboloid spin etc

Has anyone ever borrowed money from themselves ?

Did it matter if you paid it back ?

More socialism across the pond… U.K. quite likely will have to follow suit to keep economies in line, as long as all big economic countries do the same (and spend wisely) it shouldn’t effect the value of the currency in relation to others.

Not taking into account brexit of course.

Just a simple update from oliver would be good and show they are still thinking of us. Even if its just to say they havn’t forgotten about us and that they are trying to get us what we deserve, also what feedback they have had from the treasury if any. That would go a long way i think. At the moment it seems as though we have been set aside and forgotten by Tide.

Hi there, @Marc1

Thank you, and everyone else for continuing to engage here on the forums.

We try to let members discuss without always jumping in unless it’s something we’d like to address, like now.

We haven’t forgotten about you. It’s an ongoing conversation, but as soon as we get a definitive final outcome on this from the Treasury, we’ll make it known.

Regards,
Obi

Got a reply from my mp today.

“ Thank you for contacting me about Tide, I was sorry to hear of the difficulties that you have experienced.

I understand that you and many others have been directly affected by Tide’s decision to pause their Bounce Back Loan Scheme (BBLS) lending and to close their waiting list. I appreciate that many businesses are keen to receive the BBLS and protect their business and jobs during this difficult time.
As you know, the British Business Bank oversees the BBLS and other business support measures, such as the Coronavirus Business Interruption Loan Scheme. I note that the British Business Bank has made a statement on Tide’s decision on Twitter which states that the funding for the BBLS does not come from the Government or the British Business Bank, but from the lenders and it is for the lenders to secure funds and have sufficient capital to meet the lending forecasts. Tide remains an accredited lender and, should they secure additional funding, will be able to offer Bounce Back Loans again.

In the meantime, I would encourage you to approach other lenders offering the BBLS, of which there are over 20 other lenders, and apply to them for the BBLS. Even if you are rejected by a lender, you can still apply to another lender. Further to this, if you encounter any further difficulties, then please do not hesitate to get back in touch with my office and we will investigate your case further.”

Sounds like a standard reply.

Your MP obviously doesn’t know there are very few other avenues. In fact I think only HSBC is open to non customers. I’m in their pre-approval stage, have been for about 2 weeks.

If I pass that, then I go into the approval stage. Why they can’t just lump the 2 stages together especially if they are going to take weeks to get through.

@markdicker

Agree it does seem somewhat generic. At least he replied tho & acknowledged the tide situation, more than many others have done.

“Further to this, if you encounter any further difficulties, then please do not hesitate to get back in touch with my office and we will investigate your case further.”

Of course I replied highlighting that I and many others have tried every option imaginable & that we’ve been discriminated against for using a fintech bank / account which just seems disgracefully unfair considering the support government was touting not so long ago… also as with many others, having received nothing and only after enough to get up and running again.

hopefully he investigates the case further before it’s to late. 2 months and it’s game over.

#13

Guys, check out the latest accredited lender on the bbls list - Conister. Hope we can get help from here at last!

#14

Hello Conister bank have allowed me to apply for a bounceback wrong with them! Send me the form filled in and returned it, took 5 mins for them to acknowledge it. Just waiting the AML checks now! Keep you updated if everything goes through and I get the money.

#16

Starling came up with the goods. Can’t fault them

#17

Boris was just asked at PMQ’s if he would persuade the boe to open up more avenues of funding particularly for fintech banks such as tide.

His reply the boe are watching closely and will take note…

Aye up.

#18

Ive tried Consiter but no reply yet.

At least the raising of the issue in PMQs should keep things lively.

#19

Just had a crappy declined letter saying nothing. That was a lost hope…

#20

Talk us through the process… just a flat out decline or did they ask for any More info?

#21

Conister have declined almost everyone I know that applied on Day 1.
Everyone declined today was on Tide’s waiting list.
Don’t know if that’s the reason 100% but why does Tide still keep that useless list!

#22

Just flat out decline. No reason given. Probably Tide waiting list again.
